Enjoying Time To Myself

40 minutes of me-time is all I need to feel like I'm back in control.

Even as I type this, I feel that much calmer amidst all the frenzy that has been in my life the past few weeks. I've always been a huge advocate of me-time, perhaps because I feel that without it I always feel that much more lost. My head will be in a tizzy and something always feels like it's terribly wrong. So whenever I feel this way, I like doing little things away from the world which make me feel like the only person in the world that matters is me.

Sounds selfish, doesn't it? But lordy, it works.

Here's a list of my favourite things to do when I need some time away to myself:

♥ Go for a run, mainly to take in the sights...and see what I see.

♥ Spend time jazzing up my Sidekick with applications, themes and ringtones

♥ Listen to songs that I love and sometimes try to figure out the piano, and guitar chords.

♥ Sketch, paint, make some jewelry... anything where I can get my hands dirty in goodness.

♥ Write - This can be anything from blogging to writing in my journal. I just love all sorts of writing

♥ Surfing is pretty fun these days (now that I'm actually getting the flow of it)

♥ Stare at the sky - Its sheer vastness illuminates me

Sometimes I wish I could try new things but I just lack time - I'd love to pick up tennis or continue doing some Martial Arts. And sometimes you just need suggestions about where to go and what to do, to help you remember yourself.

The Raining Red

I think I am going to start my period soon. Right before I start, I always see a star fall from the sky. I swear! It's like a little ball of energy free falling into the nothingness of an unfathomable abyss.

I'm just joking. But stars do fall. They fall every day...

I shall never forget my darling even when you have gone to another room. A room that I am not occupying, even when you walk away from me with such confidence, I shall never forget that you are pained just as much as I am.

Mario Moya

If you're into fashion... I recommend checking out new designer Mario Moya! I recently visited his studio in New York and was completely, utterly blown away/obliterated to microshards by the kick-ass gorgeousness of his collection! So much so that I have this compulsive need to blab to everyone about it now, hehe. I'm honestly kind of baffled as to why he's not oozingly famous yet. (Maybe it's because he's only released one collection so far?) In any case, I promise you that he will be!

Anyway, I'll stop rambling now and let you see for yourself. This video showcases a lot of the pieces from his "Avatar" (video game-inspired!) collection so please watch it to really get a sense of what his aesthetics are like. Just the sheer variety of styles is really impressive to me:

As you can see, his style is really unique and awesome -- it's explosively futuristic (yet mod/60s), delectably daring, razor-sharp scrumptiousness peppered with mini dashes of sexy (but classy) fetish wear. (Corsets, thigh highs, etc.) He even has this one spine-tingling, exquisite, black motorcycle jacket with a -- get this -- a long, taselled WHIP draped around the back! A perfect marriage of some of my favorite styles.

Anyway, how amazing are these clothes? Answer: So amazing that my head and hands just exploded.

Completely unnecessary sidenote: For some really, really weird reason, I almost just typed "Quick! Help me scoop up the pieces and put them in this teacup! QUICK!" And then I had a vision of me sadly holding this exploded head/hand-piece-containing teacup between my forearms but magically, I had my re-pieced, dumb-looking head back on my shoulders somehow. I mean, I know the reason why I almost typed that. It's 2:19 PM and I didn't sleep last night so my head is frothing with exceedingly moronic thoughts that I probably shouldn't share with anyone... but oh well. :(

To close this off, I leave you with some pictures!

And of course, there's more at Mario's website! (just click!)

Hopefully, his clothing hits stores soon!

Serious droolage.

I haven't forgotten...

I was on 5th Ave at 25th street with my mother, and we could see the smoke rising from the site. She frantically called and called until we knew everyone was safe.
I mourn with the world today for those lost, in New York City, Washington DC, a field in Pennsylvania, and also for the brave soldiers who sacrificed themselves to answer the call of duty in Iraq.

In honor of 9/11, many Americans are using YouTube to share their stories and forge connections with fellow citizens. Some are hoping to create community by uploading their experiences from the day, and encouraging fellow YouTube users to do the same.

I Used To Hide Behind Makeup

I used to love putting on heavy eye make up everyday. I'm talking thick black eyeliner, dark eyeshadows, blackest black mascara..etc. Just think runway panda eyes everyday! It was crazy. I hated the look of my eyes without it.

Then during a photoshoot, the make up artist was instructed to keep my make up young and fresh. I have to admit that scared me a little! After all, I'd been in love with dark eye make up since I was 13. But to my surprise, that was the very day I fell in love with my own natural beauty. So yeah, that sounds a little conceited, maybe really conceited. And I was still wearing a little make up. But less then I'd ever worn in my life. From that day on, I put down the MAC sharkskin shadestick, and kept it clean and minimal.

It's such an amazing thing to not hide behind thick black eyeliner anymore. Liberating. I think I actually have more confidence in myself now. It's so unusual to say, since not wearing make up seems naked. But it is indeed a wonderful feeling.

I'm a dork...
